STORMWATER MANAGEMENT AND ROAD TUNNEL PROJECT (SMART)
The SMART project is a flood water diversion tunnel from the confluence of Sg. Ampang and Sg. Gombak to Desa Pond which cuts across the treacherous Kuala Lumpur Limestone. Kuala Lumpur Limestone is notorious for its highly erratic karstic features that pose great uncertainties in foundation constructions. Amongst the challenges include abrupt change of limestone profile which required innovative earth retaining system for the excavations of shafts, measurements to prevent excessive draw down of groundwater table. Comprehensive assessments were performed with regards to impact on adjacent properties and effective mitigation measures were developed.

LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT (LRT) INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS AT PUTRAJAYA
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) infrastructure works in Putrajaya is from Precinct 1 and passes through the Prime Minister’s Office, Putra Bridge, Boulevard and then splits into three lines and ends at Precincts 4 and 18. It comprises 7 numbers of stations and 8.173 km of tunnels. All the stations and tunnels are underground and were constructed by cut and cover method except for the portion passing through the lake which was designed by immersing the tunnel in the water and supported on the bed of lake.
